Product Overview
Published by Hal Leonard. Originally published as "Solfeggio," this solfeggietto (little study) has become an exceedingly popular choice for the budding virtuoso. Chord arpeggiations are divided between the hands for a brilliant display of keyboard passagework. Each time the arpeggiation motif returns, it is in another key: G minor (the dominant), F minor (the subdominant), and concluding again in C minor (the tonic key). Sudden dynamic changes and dramatic shifts of register are featured, in keeping with the pre-classical transitional style of northern Germany. The authentic instruments for this piece were the clavichord (C.P.E. Bach's personal favorite), the harpischord, and the fortepiano (the predecessor of the modern piano).
