Schroeder drew upon his extensive experience to create original études for instructing students, and in this work he combines them with several others by his distinguished nineteenth-century European colleagues: Karl Schröder. Ferdinand Büchler, Friedrich Dotzauer, Auguste Franchomme, Friedrich Grützmacher, and Sebastian Lee.
